Stichting Hilversum One celebrates diversity in Hilversum by organizing cultural activities. We reach out to everyone in Hilversum and around, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual or political orientation or religion. We do this by organizing twee yearly cultural festivals, by introducing kids to arts and culture and by talking to local (governments) organizations to advocate the interests of all Hilversummers. So nobody is forgotten.
Would you like to join us as a volunteer, business partner or sponsor? Or do you have a great idee or something you’d like to address? Please contact us, we would love to hear from you!
Culture Festivals
Hilversum One Foundation organizes two annual cultural events in Hilversum: Africa Day in May and One Hilversum Festival in September. At this free public festival one can enjoy different cultures and different art disciplines, visual arts, music, dance, design, food and poetry.
Afrikadag Festival shall take place on Saturday 27 May 2023 in the Oude Haven park
Cultural Participation
The Hilversum One Foundation is also committed to helping children who are at risk of being left behind, for example due to a language deficiency, poverty or because they are not (yet) accustomed to Dutch culture. For these children, Hilversum One organizes culture workshops in cooperation with Globe, IMC on Tour, Jeugdfonds Sport en Cultuur and the municipality. After the workshops are over, the foundation supports the children to take music or dance lessons, together with the aforementioned partners. Through their participation in culture lessons, they come into contact with other children, discover their talents and, perhaps more importantly, they can be children in their own way.
Cultural support
The foundation sees that some new Dutch citizens can have difficulty feeling at home in Hilversum. The customs and ways of communicating are not always clear. Hilversum One is therefore increasingly working with government agencies and other parties to help Hilversum residents and families become familiar with Dutch culture.
